Biography

Dallas ISD District 3 Trustee, December 8, 2009 to present.

Born in Dallas, Texas and grew up on the East side of White Rock Lake in Casa Linda.

Attended Reinhardt Elementary School, Gaston Middle School, and graduated from Bryan Adams High School.

Worked retail to help pay for college.

Graduated from the University of North Texas with a BFA in film and photography.

Later earned a Masters of Science Degree from Texas A&M - Commerce in Educational Technology.

Professional experience was during the early years of the emerging Dallas’ film industry.

Worked with people such as Brian De Palma “Phantom of the Opera”, Jameson Film, Visual Presentations, Century Studio and Mobil Color, all of whom dominated the early 1970s Dallas film production scene.

Began an eleven year relationship with Channel 11. Rose from Camera Operator, Studio Crew Chief, Audio Technician, and Video Tape Operator, finally promoted to Producer and Director. KTVT Productions produced numerous TV commercials, syndicated programs; including several Dallas County Community College District’s Tele-courses “Man and His Environment” and “History the Second Century”.

Over the next few years, worked for several Post Production Facilities in and around the Dallas area, as a video editor.

Went to Cuba, produced a documentary on the anniversary of the 100 year anniversary of the Methodist Church in Cuba.

After working 16 years in the field of video production, started a commercial lawn maintenance company and quickly found out that he had the ability to run a successful business. After seven years, Bruce sold the lawn maintenance company and started a Video Production company with his brother Brent. The company produced original videos which were sold throughout the United States, Canada and Australia. This was a rewarding period in his professional life, because for the first time since college, he was able to have a true family business.

The experience with his video production company made it possible for Bruce to go to work for Dallas Community Television (a nonprofit access station for the city of Dallas), as the Video Production Manager for Pegasus Productions. Pegasus was the production services department and the for-profit arm of DCTV. During the eight years with DCTV, he helped oversee the transition from analog, linear editing to digital, non-linear computer video editing.

Pegasus Productions clients included the Greater Dallas Chamber of Commerce annual report video (8 years), the North Texas Small Business Develop Center training videos, the City of Dallas Environmental and Health Services ( Spanish and English versions that are still being used today) and the Office of Cultural Affairs City of Dallas just to name a few.

Won distinguished national video production awards, including (3) Telly awards, the AME award and the MCA-I 2003 Gold Reel Award for Editing. (Greater Dallas Annual Report 2003 Video) Has been active in Dallas elections (city, state and national).

For seven of his first 10 years of marriage, he was elected Precinct Chair/Election Judge for Dallas County Precinct 2232. Has been active in his community throughout his adult life. Bruce has been married to Lois for over three decades. Their two children, Jeff and Julia, are scheduled to graduate from college within a few months from TX A&M University and Stephen F. Austin State University. They attended their neighborhood schools, Martha Turner Reilly and Hill Junior High School. Both children like their father graduated from Bryan Adams High School
